What Makes Porcelain Countertops Different
Porcelain slabs are made from fine clays and minerals pressed into thin, dense sheets and fired at over 1,200°C. The result is a surface that is harder and less porous than natural stone or quartz, with the pattern printed through precision digital glazing.
Heat resistant
Hot pots and pans won't scorch or discolour the surface — unlike quartz, porcelain contains no resins.
Scratch resistant
One of the hardest countertop surfaces available, so everyday knife and cookware marks are rare.
Stain-proof, no sealing
Near-zero water absorption means wine, coffee and oil wipe straight off. It never needs sealing.
UV stable
Colours won't fade or yellow in sunlight, so porcelain works by bright windows and outdoors.

The kitchen is where porcelain earns its keep. Set hot pans down, roll out pastry, and wipe up tomato sauce or red wine without worrying about etching or staining. Large slabs up to 63" × 126" mean most islands can be cut from a single piece, and matching slabs can run up the backsplash for a seamless, book-matched look.
Marble-look designs like Calacatta and Statuario are our most requested for kitchens, while matte stone and concrete looks hide fingerprints and suit busy family kitchens.
Porcelain Bathroom Countertops
In bathrooms, porcelain's non-porous surface resists water, soap, cosmetics and cleaning products, so vanity tops stay looking new with nothing more than a damp cloth. Because the same slabs can clad walls, shower surrounds and tub decks, you can carry one material through the whole room.
Thinner 12 mm slabs keep floating vanities light, and honed or satin finishes give spa bathrooms a soft, natural-stone feel. See finished rooms in our project gallery.
Available Finishes, Thicknesses and Edge Profiles
Finishes
Polished for depth and shine, matte and honed for a soft natural-stone feel, plus satin and Levigato Pearl in between. Matte finishes are the most forgiving for everyday kitchens.
Thicknesses
12 mm slabs are the standard for porcelain countertops and vanities. 20 mm slabs add stiffness for islands, larger overhangs and outdoor kitchens. Thinner 6 mm slabs suit wall cladding and backsplashes.
Edge profiles
Porcelain is usually finished with a straight eased edge or a mitered edge, which joins two pieces at 45° so a 12 mm countertop reads as a thick, solid slab. Ask our team which edge suits your design.

Are porcelain countertops good for kitchens?
Yes. Porcelain is heat resistant, scratch resistant and non-porous, so it handles hot pans, knives and spills without sealing. That makes it one of the lowest-maintenance kitchen countertop materials available.
What thickness should a porcelain countertop be?
Most porcelain countertops use 12 mm slabs, often with a mitered edge to make the front look thicker. 20 mm slabs are stiffer and suit islands, outdoor kitchens and larger overhangs. Our team can help you choose for your layout.
